Mr. John Bishop is in a very critical condition.
R.J. Messenger is suffering from an attack of LaGrippe.
Mrs. I.C. Archibald and little daughter Florence were at Truro last week.
Ice cutting seems to be the particular business just not. Ice of unusually fine quality, being about 15 inches thick is being stored.
The Women’s Institute held their annual meeting last week. Mrs. W.P. Morse was appointed Secretary. The other officers were retained.
An exchange of pulpits were made between the Baptist and Methodist clergymen on Sunday last. The services at both churches were much appreciated by large congregations.
The Lawrencetown Literary Club held its initial meeting at Dr. L.R. Morse’s on Wednesday evening last. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mr. L.H. Stoddart on the evening of the 21st inst.
The supper held in Phinney’s Hall on Monday last was a decided success. Aside from the general supper, an oyster supper was served to N.H. Phinney’s staff. The next proceeds of the evening $48.52 was for the Belgian Relief Fund.
The many fruit growers of the County will be glad to meet Prof. Sears of Amherst Agricultural College, Mass., at Middleton this week. He took to his work in Massachusetts the undivided good-will and esteem of the farmers, won by intelligent, indefatigable work at Truro as Pomologist for a long period of service. The programme promises an unusually good session, with F.W. Bishop of Paradise as President.
At the regular meeting of the Red Cross Society on Tuesday a unanimous vote was recorded in favor of working one month for the Belgians who so nobly sacrificed themselves for honor, thus rendering millions homeless to become wards of the world. Let each woman feel at liberty to contribute material or time or money or all three to aid this truly worthy cause. The next meeting takes place at Mrs. Miner Daniel’s on the 20th inst.
